This species has strikingly beautiful coloring and is very popular to keep. The workers of Camponotus irritans move gracefully on long legs. This species feels disturbed very quickly, but can still be kept and observed very well. Colonies usually house fewer than 1000 workers in the wild. Camponotus irritans is very beginner-friendly as a colony. Care should be taken to ensure that the colony has a moist nest area. In principle, any ant nest can be used.
