Also known as a kind of crazy ant, Nylanderia is a small, black-brownish species and is common around the world. This species forms extremely extensive supercolonies. It seems to be attracted to electricity and causes damage to electrical systems. Individual colonies and groups of colonies often have more than one queen. They will nest in and under various types of debris and landscape objects including rotting wood, soil, mulch, bark, potted plants, vehicles, and structures.
