NEST & ENVIRONMENT Most ant species are suitable to be kept in any acrylic/grout/plaster/formicarium. When you get ants for the first day Should be stored in a cabinet or dark box for at least 1 day before the ant adapts. Keep ants in a calm, well-ventilated, and cool place. Ants should be kept in a dark and calm place. Do not take the ants out to see too often. or keep it in a bright place Will make the queen stressed and die. Beware of the WILD ants living in the house that will invade the nest and will attack your ant colony. Avoid touching the ants directly. If necessary, use tweezers instead
DIET Most ant species are fond of sugar water and eagerly accept it. They will also need protein for growth, mainly from meal worms, super worms, or crickets which are easy to obtain. There are two nutrients which are very important for ants and they are:- PROTEIN and CARBOHYDRATES (main diet). Feed every 3 to 4 days in a small quantity for your current colony size.
Important Facts:- Protein-containing insect parts will aid in colony growth. (Mealworms cut into parts to feed) Sugar or honey water are sources of carbohydrates, which are needed for energy. **If you have purchased our starter kit or bundle kit, all you need to do when you receive the nest is feed and enjoy ant keeping. You do not need to do or buy anything else. **Do not remove the red plastic barrier/blocker. Wait until the chambers are fully occupied before opening more. This is really important to prevent them from putting trash in nesting chambers.
