Problem: Having Parasitic Mites Invasion? Ants Dying from Parasitic Mites?
Solution: We all know this remedy but do you know the most effective way of doing it? ISOLATE and QUARANTINE the entire colony depending on the colony size will determine the quarantine container. The narrower container the better. Yes, it will be difficult if you have big colony but this is the only way. The mites will not go away if you are keeping your existing setup, they will still be there. We need to totally eradicate the mites not just on the body of the ants but to your nest setup as well. So, to do this the nest have to be thoroughly washed and clean. Welcome your disinfected ants back home without fear of reoccurrence. For the ants part, there will be sacrifices, some ants, eggs or larvae may have to be abandon in the process. A small sacrifice for the better of the many. In the video the Queen has the most mites on her. It is difficult to watch. Cut few slices of lemon and prepare lemon juice so that you can drip it on the cotton and the ants shall remain there to clean themselves and you will see mites dropping off after a few minutes. This may take days or weeks. Another thing I forgot to mention is remember to rub lemon juices on the rim of the container. They can climb, incase of any escapees DO NOT do this remedy anywhere near your other ant colonies.

Problem: Still having left over mites on some of the Ants?
Solution: The following steps you need to take is to switch the quarantine container to a new one. Move the ants over and repeat the process until all mites are gone from them. Don’t be afraid to add lemon and drip lemon juice onto the cotton. Make sure you have good ventilation in the container, you can make holes or mesh which ever is suitable for the size of the ants you are treating. Clean and disinfect the first container properly, you might need it the following day if there’s still mites to repeat the process over.
IMPORTANT: Between switching to a new quarantine container do give your ants some water and sugar water before you start them off with the treatment. Recommend that you give your Ants (ONE) Day recuperate down time and monitor their health before you start with the second lemon treatment.
Results: Well they are free from those pesky parasitic mites in less than a week. Hope I’ve shared some information here which could help, should you face similar problems. If you miss the previous videos, I’ve attached the link below. This is the end of Ants Subang Tip #07. Thanks for watching.
